I just re-installed an Opencart with a brand new database, and I'm wondering how to replace the date from my previous database?

But if you have fully 'installed' the OC with a clean, but 'default cat/product preloaded' DB, I would advise to delete (drop) ALL TABLES of the now existing 'new created' DB, before 'importing' YOUR OLD DB with the valid Category/Product/Customer Data Tables according the instructions, given on the linked Page, mentioned.
This way, you have a DB, just like newly created, but still fully empty as such, waiting to be filled with the content of your Backup from your old Server. The import procedure itself may take a while, so just keep calm...

PS. I just realized, I'm in the v.2.x Forum..., but it should work the same, anyway...

Thanks for your reply.
for what i did is.
1. Re-install a fresh Opencart on a new database. (same domain, same host, only different name of database.)
2, Drop all the tables in the new database.
3. Import the backup.sql from my previous database.
4. everything look fine, except my host sent me an email said failed to connect to the "Old database", access denied. and ask them to perform a codeguard resource sync.
does anybody know what is happening?
Thanks

Did you upload the same version Opencart as you worked with before?

Did your Hoster already delete the Site, or do you really still have Access by use of the Server Admin Section MySql Admin? Why should you receive a Mail from the Hoster, if you just face a tyoe of connection problem, other than beeing seemengly CUT from access it ?! At least, if you Reupload the 'old' DB from your PC...
Funny, very funny, did you BACKUP/Download to DB in FULL, as requested?
