As Long as OpenSSL (or whatever package you use for SSL on the server) is up to date then everything will operate as normal.
OpenSSL has supported the new certificates for many years so the likelyhood is that you atleast have a version that supports, I think the lowest supported version is 0.9.8.
If you have SSH access to your server you could try this:
