This is a competiton system for your store:

The basics are:
  • The competition system is capable of running multiple competitions at once;
  • Competitions are date enabled and customers can't enter after the given date;
  • Optional question/answer;
  • Optional (though recommened) Terms and Conditions Tick box requirement;
  • Optional login requirement (i.e. have to create an account if they don't already have one);
  • Old competition details are still viewable so customers can see what they may have missed out on and perhaps revisit your site to see if there are any new competitions to enter (and hopefully buy something);
  • The module is the way to advertise your competition - the module will show (a snippet of) the latest competition;
  • Entrants can only enter the competion once (once per email address);
  • The winner is saved for future reference (whilst the competition exists) and can be emailed directly from the admin;
  • SEO, mutli-store and multi-language enabled.
  • Now includes Thumbnail images for Modules and Competition List.
  • Admin sets number of winners (from 1 to 999) per competition.
  • Competitiions can be set for Auto Entry.
Auto Entry:
  • It is now possible to set competitions as 'Auto Entry'. If a compeititon is set as auto entry then it is not possible to enter the competition from the Competition Page, instead of the entry form a message (set in admin) is shown which you can use to state the entry requirements.

    Auto entry ignores the question/answer, force login and newsletter signup options, it simply enters the customer in to the competition if their order value is higher than the value that is set in the admin.

    If you run mulitiple Auto Entry Competitions at the same time, then the customer will be entered into all eligible competitions based on order value.

    In line with the rest of the system, customers can only be entered into a competition once, they won't be entered into the competition after the end date and they won't be entered if the Competition or Auto Entry has been disabled. Customers don't get a Competition Entry confirmation email at present.
Also included is a multi-choice question/answer. This can be done on a per language basis, so an english competition may not have a question but the French (or whatever) language competition will (languages that don't have a question will have the correct answer set automatically).

Comes with a few vQmods to do all the edits and a bunch of new files.

Catalog demo Here. You'll see a 'Competition' module in the left hand column.

Admin demo Here User: demo Pass: demo
Navigate to Sales > Competitions (Please note that the 'email winner' link has be deactivated for the demo)

Great mod.
Off topic: I like the (compare(0)) in header menu. Is this a mod you developed or it's around here some where?
If it's developed by you, is it for sale?
Of it's around here, could you point me where to get it from?

Thanks

I'm afraid that it is part of the template. It's not that difficult to do though and you should be able to replicate it.

1. Can this be limited to user accounts? (not random visitors)

2. Can this be limited to selected zones? (such as limit Competition A to just U.S. user accounts, but Competition B could be worldwide and open to all user accounts and visitors)

1. Not at the moment. Experince says that making people register means hardly anyone enters the competition and the idea is that you want as many people as possible interested. However, it is something that I'm thinking about and I may upgrade this at some time in the nearish future to have the option of only available to logged in users.

2. No, as the entry is by email it makes it a little difficult. Best bet is to have some terms and conditions that say 'competition open to US entrants only'.

To that end I've almost finished the Terms and condiditons check box, just need to update the instructions which I will do tomorrow.

I have a client who often runs "submit a photo of you using our product" competitions (or similar).
How hard would it be to implement a file/photo upload function?

[Just thinking out loud...] I expect competition photos would be stored in a specific directory and so be available for display on the website using a gallery extension.

This had crossed my mind and I don't suppose that it will be that difficult and will put it on the to do list.

The only way I can think to do this is to prevent access based on IP and that is not really a viable solution. Best thing to do is to add something like 'This competition is only open to US residents' at the bottom of the compteition description in nice bold letters. If someone is stupid enough not to understand that and you pick a winner that is not in the US then simply choose a different winner.

If you are going to have a mix of competitions (open to all / only US) then your terms and conditions should read something like 'Competitions are open to residents worldwide unless specifically stated otherwise in the competition details...'

This has now been updated to inclued thumbnail images for the module and the competition list page.

Also included is a newsletter sign-up system - if enabled along with terms and condidions, then the competition entrant is also added to a newsletter database and can be emailed as part of a new 'Competition Entrants' entry in the opencart mail system.

Updated: Competitions can now be set for Auto Entry:

Auto Entry:
  • It is now possible to set competitions as 'Auto Entry'. If a compeititon is set as auto entry then it is not possible to enter the competition from the Competition Page, instead of the entry form, a message (set in admin) is shown which you can use to state the entry requirements.

Customers don't get a Competition Entry confirmation email at present.

would be cool too to be able to display a list of winners with a pic of the winner holding the item(s) they won, giving a little more credibility and interest in the competition

Winners are already listed.

Pictures, I'll add that to the to do list.

Up next though is Multi Choice option, so after that perhaps I'll have a look at that.

Hello,

I am using a custom open cart theme called Shopping Mart, it is not UBER or Simple Cart. However, I am using Open cart version 1.5.5.1. I uploaded all the files using FTP, to the correct directory structure using the files from the new install version: 1.5.5_ and 1.5.6.

admin
catalog
vqmod

However, when I log into my admin panel. I navigate to the tab called Sales, I am not able to see the tab called: Competition in the list.

The module has been installed correctly, and I can see the tables/records in my phpmyadmin database. Can you please shed some light what other reason the Competition tab doesn't show under SALES.

Also, when I go to Modules and click install I see the 'Competion Module" Edit/Install settings, and so right now it is active.

All the Best!

The developer of the plugin is so awesome. He was able to help me figure out the problem quickly. It looks like I was missing some sample code in my index.php file. Come to find out the vQMod was not installed. Thank you for all your help and assistance! MSDesigner. O0
