Update: I would like to announce the release of the Release Candidate of the new Opencart Cornerstone.
Update: Since there was no feedback on Opencart it now figures as a full version (no longer a release candidate)

The package contains a new default and naked themes.
The default theme is for fallback purposes only (hence its terrrible looks :)

Visit the site of the Cornerstone project (http://chrisplaneta.com/freebies/corner ... art-theme/) and leave feedback in the comments section. All the bug reports will be appreciated.

Enjoy:)

To admin: Please, delete my previous post with announcement about creation of the theme http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php ... 26#p127426

I'm really suprised no one has commented yet. This is kind of awesome.

There are a few places I would still have to strip away tables; but I guess thats just a preference thing. I don't often use them for forms. I see you used an unordered list for product lists, THANK YOU. So many people still using tables for that. There are also quite a few tables used to display the product information, but you could argue it makes sense semantically to use them there.

I still have a bit more looking around to do. This could be an enormous time saver. I can't say how many times I've went to start a template and have just hacked apart an old template of mine to speed up the process.

Nice to hear that you like it.

I know that there is a huge table displaying product info and I will get rid of it. Just didn't have time to get down to it.

What do you think about going with Cornerstone even a bit further when it comes to HTML5. I thought about changing some of the usual divs in the naked theme into new HTML5 tags. I mean here <nav>, <section>, <header> etc.

Oh, and I would really love to know your opinion on the new default and the whole fallback thing?

I like the idea of having a fallback theme. It sort of lets you play around with creating child themes with Cornerstone which I think is a great idea; sort of like how the current OpenCart default theme works.

Um, I don't usually include the payment or mail folders in my templates though, as I let those fall back to OpenCart's default. I don't think that will create too big an issue as it appears you've just copy/pasted them from the original default theme? I'm assuming theres not a way to have ANOTHER fallback to the original default theme. So you have CS_Child_Theme which falls back to Cornerstone_Default, and if anythings missing in Cornerstone_Default, it falls back to Default. Maybe that's a lot of unnecessary-ness though as long as the Cornerstone Default theme has those files correct. :D

I'm thinking there are only a few people interested in developing OpenCart theme's in HTML5 right now. How many that would be interested in it and just don't ever post on these forums, I couldn't tell you. I've only just started dabbling in it, but have yet to use it for a real client project. I *think* the majority of OC developers feel the same way. (not that I'm a mindreader or anything and that being said, I'd still be interested in it!) Maybe it would be a nice project when 1.5 comes out.

Also, understandable about the tables and everything. First beta and all!

Beta 2 of Cornerstone will be released this weekend.

Changes:
- Some <tables> are now changed into more appropriate elements like divs and lists
- Finished Cornerstone Default theme
- Fixed problems with JS

Fixes:
- Some buttons didn't work and now they do:)
- minor tweaks and improvements

I'm waiting for feedback on Cornerstone and suggestions what improvements to include.

Update: New version of Cornerstone is now released. However, it is not beta 2 but a release candidate. I would like to ask you for bug reports before final release. Thanks
