OpenCart 3 Template Engine Switcher (php/twig)

Available for OpenCart 3.0.2.x: Template Switcher



This module, when enabled, causes OpenCart to automatically detect the correct template engine depending on a template file extension (e.g. '.tpl', '.twig', '.smarty' etc).

Extensions and web themes can now use both PHP and Twig templates. This allows theme developers to more easily port old web themes with their PHP templates (*.tpl files) to OpenCart 3.

Nice work, too bad this won't be included in the core.

There are still various open github issues on this, so maybe Daniel will change his mind. All he has to do is to swap his event/theme.php files with our corrected versions. This extension simply replaces these events with our improved ones so as to dynamically detect the correct template engine.

Thanks, buddy. Your extension helps a lot, as usual. I really don't understand all this force-feeding of TWIG, when you can easily support multiple template engines.
