About Extension Dev

Hi there,
I search on the web and not found docs for extension installer for develop an extension. I read the code of admin/controller/extension/installer and i would know what is the right thing:
- in the root of extension can i include many files? install.xml for ocmod, install.sql for sql instalation and install.php? Is this proceed?
