After 6 months of development since the release of 1.5 in January our development team introduce you to our new OpenCart powered store. We take around 2000 orders per day and are expecting to average 4000 orders per day on an OpenCart install - this is enterprise level .. we have really tuned OC up..

Although some URLs and the initially appearance does not look it - it is entirely OpenCart powered.

Every single thing was built in-house.

Technology.

We use a 4GB, Rackspace cloud SSD based server which uses Nginx - not apache.
The server has a few mods including loadbalancers, nginx php5-fpm, vhost configurations for SEO Urls.. memcache, apc php cache and much more

Our database server is a highly optimised MySQL cloud server which is dedicated in on it's own. Featuring cache, fast disk out put and much more - it is also hosted with rackspace on separate servers

Images and video system - what the awards we won are for our content. Our image server sits on an open subdomain which is cname backed and dns tracked outside of opencart and direct clone. So we use MAXCDN and Akamai rackspace to power and host all our images - this is a fully backed, integrated solution - we have our own hosted video service and our opencart video module supports, swf, html5 including mp4, ogv, webm and flv for every single video - around 1000 videos! Not only that ALL the videos are managed in our Admin panel - they even work on EVERY SINGLE MOBILE phone without a need to download an app: examples:

Mutli support

We support multi currencies and soon will be opening multi language and country editions.

We also have a dedicated mobile store (we just made a new multi store called m.gorgeouscouture.com) this subdomain is also nginx powered and features a different theme - some controller mods - but it is in the same stock and order process - we built our own redirects for product, category and content pages ensuring the correct redirect is always made for mobiles

Admin and Logistics

We use the prime opencart system for stock but since attributes don't link like people have mentioned before - we built it.. so a dress can be in many sizes.. each size can have stock and price and ALL of these can have many colours in many sizes and many prices and quantities and many videos and many colours and images attached to them! *take a breather*

Our admin panel sites on it's own http://manage.gorgeouscouture.com which is secure locked down server for warehouse, customer service - we have tuned the admin up for multi staff handling of pages.. every single area - including the shop page ranking (category page) default image colours.. and every page is editable and manageable from the multi language admin...

The next plans are to improve performance.. database calls with more cache queries.. ssl.. upgrade to 1.6 when it comes out.. our entire admin looks different pretty much to the default one but many things still function the same

Few questions first..

How did you install MaxCDN and Akamai together?
How do you have separate mySQL servers and load balancing what is this?
How did you install the admin panel on a subdomain?
How do you do your colour changes on the product page - I noticed on this product page for example: the dresses are in large, small and medium and the colours change and you have several colour images per product and also on the category page and ALSO when I add to cart the particular colour is a thumbnail - this is for your mobile store too?
How do you redirect and handle mobile?
How did you install HTML5 and flash video player for mobile and your website?
What version of opencart is this?
Are you willing to sell the modules you built especially the colour and filtering - that is amazing..
Finally what template is this?

Magento Extensions has improved over the years, however it is a commercial product now. Paying for a ecommerce vendor was not our concern - the fact that many major stores that still use Magento with load balancing and rapid servers and CDNs STILL HAVE SLOW MAGENTO sites.. you can sort of click and feel page loads *shudder* and wonder all the XML and cache builds for adding to cart.. there are some bonus points of the system but as everyone knows. I avoided the product at all costs

We simply use a subdomain say:

cdn.opencartshop.com

We then point our pull from MaxCDN to the cdn.opencartshop.com - Akamai is used as we use Rackspace Cloud Files CDN and some files are still hosted on their - major video fashion shoots as it is faster than MaxCDN

MySQL database sits on a dedicated server. We have a loadbalancer that ANYONE pointing to this server to ANY port is loadbalancer in the MySQL database cluster/master slave - done with Rackspace Cloud Loadbalancers.

We wrote the admin/config.php and made a CNAME domain to point to the admin and act as a subdomain. The subdomain also supports SSL (in future, we will make sure admin is entirely on it's own server)

See that link. Basically we made our own custom module system for this. So in the admin, the user can go to catalog and products and in the image section then can have as MANY IMAGES AS POSSIBLE FOR as many colours. So a dress can have 20 red colour images and 4 black colour images and it is available in red and black - the image resizing and everything else works too.. it is a module we developed. Size s,xs,m - that is just a stock unit - we don't really use it - only for customers.. the colour module is was a big job as the entire category and search and opencart system has been built around our new module

We built it. The video system is: photoshoot from our studios, graphic team then convert and edit the video in ogv, mp4, avi, swf and flv AND mov format.. the VM team then upload to the CDN and add it an item - we built our own video management module - this code is same for our mobile site

We're an established company with a award winning services. Spam? I told you, we use RACKSPACE CLOUD - not EC2! And the fact that because we use compressed code - multi subdomains and have added our own Copyright - WebSphere OpenCart is what we have called the product since we have made huge changes to core files - the product we used before was IBM WebSphere Commerce which starts around 100£k per month - I doubt you have heard of it since your PHP, server, and DNS look up knowledge is limited to Amazon, Google and echo hello world. We are huge organisation and the admin panel link is live and takes real orders.

As I explained the admin and manage is are cname records. Therefore the same code. My word, you post had no warrant to de-rationalise and start trolling - ten points for the cheek you say - you could have PM or asked private question with regards to our setup but not - daft!

I had added, "Appears to be a new instance of a genuine registrant's commandeered log-in for spamming (quite a shift in tenor and knowledge in posts, no go)." That owed to these antecedents by TheLizard.

Don't know why the kick off is. I am sure if he says it is Rackspace Cloud and not Amazon EC2 it probably is.

And this shop is Opencart despite all the code changes and compression including their admin. Back to topic - thanks for answering the questions. I am really impressed with the store.

I noticed that opencart.gc-cdn.com is MaxCDN and gc-cdn.com is Rackspace so it somes up their own setup however they're trying to hide DNS for security

I noticed that blog.gc-cdn.com and blog.gorgeouscouture.com are cname records and also rackspace servers
