Suggestion: optimize sql queries before adding new features

First of all, I want to say Daniel is a great coder and opencart is so far the best cart system I have ever used.
I know he keeps developing new features requested by users, which is perfect, but I think maybe he should now stop for a while and look at the current sql queries before he continues.
(1)When I was playing around with opencart, I found in some places, there were a little bit excessive sql queries.
(2)Index not added for some tables.
(3)some queries are not cached even if they should be(like the product url alias queies.).
Yes, I can do it by myself, but what if I need to update to a newer version? It is gonna be a pain to find out all the differences and change. I believe people who heavily modify their carts will face the same problem.
I sincerely hope Daniel could think about this and makes opencart way better!
