How to verify ownership on Google Webmaster Tools ?

I have built my website with opencart and was wondering how I can verify my site on Google Webmaster Tools?

I have created the account on Google Analytics but I failed to verify the site with the option "Link to your Google Analytics account". So i tried to use the option "Add a meta tag to your site's home page". Would you please let me know how to do that ? Many thanks !!

You need to open up the header.tpl file of your theme and add in the meta tag in between the head tags

If that doesnt work, I personally think the easiest way is to download the file from the vaeification page called something like googlekcifinfimemimfif.html, and upload it straight to the root folder of your server using your ftp client.

The page you requested cannot be found.

I am looking at it right in my root directory

In my case just put the meta tag to a google analytic field in your server tab
