Why would I send a copy of my license to purchase a $20 extension?? I denied the request. Within minutes i'm receiving emails from gmail.com accounts informing me I can purchase the same extensions without submitting my drivers license ... are emails and purchase orders from opencart public for everyone to see ??
Feeling worried and confused
then want to have a chargeback, by quoting, that the extension does not function.
As a consequence of that, OC only has expenses, and looses money. But if a seller
offers an extension to you without the need of presenting any legal document, they
will NOT refound your money, if you cannot get the extension to work. And you will
have NO RIGHT, to then complain here about it, or about the seller, around here either,
and OC has no reason, to do anything about.
That's, in short, what's all about...

I just wanted to comment on this particular portion. What likely happened here is that the developer got notified of your order, and saw that it was "Waiting for valid ID". It sounds like they then e-mailed you from their @gmail.com account, to point you to their own site, where you could buy it without ID verification. Your info probably wasn't compromised, it was just the developer trying to make a quick buck by skirting the opencart.com commission system.
That being said, opencart.com is flagging more orders these days, and your frustration isn't unique. You can search around in the forums for various topics about people feeling the ID requirement is unnecessary. However, the intention is to help reduce fraud, which costs both OpenCart and developers time and money, so its intention is good. It just can be a bit of overkill in some situations.
