Hey all,
I'm quite new to this, but I sell badges.. I want to set something up that if they can browse all the different designs via the categories, select colours etc etc When added individually they are £1 each but if they add 6 different badges the total is £5 or add 15 and the total is £10 etc... Its not like adding 10 of the same item as they will be browsing all different designs
Any help would be gladly received :-D
Many thanks

Hey, thanks for your reply !
I've just had a quick look ... which one of these do you think for a novice is the easiest to use without having to mess about with HTML - I've had to you tube virtually everything on my store so far :D

Well, I don't think, that one can learn much by help of youtube, and if you plan
to build a Business with OC, you either take and use it, as it comes, or then,
get down to the basics. And don't waste anymore costly time, but use
the Web, to get smart , when it comes to HTML, PHP, Stylesheets, MVC
Frameworks, and what else is required to know, in order to handle a very
comprehensive Tool like OC. It's the only way, believe me, because you
just cannot count on others, and for free, to build a Business, like in real Life too.

But don't take it personal, it's not meant this way, I just wanted to warn you,
so you're not expecting the impossible, it's like in any other Business, only
those survive, beeing aware of what they're doing...

Good Luck ;)
Ernie

and better remove those smilies again, such does not belong in a strictly technical place...

The business is already up and running and working - I've outgrown my etsy shop and eBay and tired of paying fees .... I've already set up my website using opencart - using its own Built in web builder .... I just want to offer the discount option for multiple products from various categories without having to waste my time and energy on HTML and more time on making my orders

As long as your badges are all the same price, and your discount applies to all products in your store, you could do this with Quantity-Based Fee/Discount. All you'd need to do is set up a discount to give £1.00 off when there were 6 items, or £5.00 off if there were 15 items. For example:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CHARGE #1
Title: Badge Discount
Sort Order: 1
Charge Field: 6-14 = -1.00, 15-9999 = -5.00
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can add additional brackets in there if you need to. Now, keep in mind this is an Order Total extension. Order Totals do not affect the price shown in the cart -- only "Special" prices can do that. Order Totals are automatically activated when the criteria are met, and show up as a line item on the order. If you want to inform the customer of the possible fee or discount, you'd need to do it in the product description, or using an HTML module on the appropriate product pages.

If you have other products in your store and need a discount that only applies to certain products, then you'd need to instead get Category & Product-Based Fee/Discount. That can limit the discount to a particular set of products or categories, so only qualifying products will be eligible for the discount.

Feel free to take a look at the screenshots and demo site, and if you're interested let me know at www.getclearthinking.com/contact if you have any further questions.
