I just have a general question, i have installed already opencart 3.0.3.1 the latest opencart but i realize that there isn't as many extensions for it also not the ones i really want which is only available to previous versions
How can i downgrade my opencart version to another version without having to reinstall all the extensions i have already installed, also which version is the best with the most available extensions to add on now (free extensions) i don't want to pay for an extension if i can rather work around it.
PS.. my hostings provider has a softaculous installer for opencart, could i downgrade it from there?
Please help
Kind Regards

Well, then better not expect Developers, to be of much assistance,i don't want to pay for an extension
if they know from the start up, that they will never create some
income out of you. One should better NEVER mention something
like this, or then, take the risk, to widely be ignored by most, also
looking for a frequent chance, to get something out of it.
But if you already installed some Extensions, they are likely of
no use in older Versions anyway, so, better just scrap everything,
and start again, after you selected an OC Version, where most
free Extensions exist. Just look around, wich-one meets best,
it only costs you a little free time ...
Good Luck, nothing personal, it's just the way, how OC works.

LOL thanks for the heads up, i do understand though
Well seeing that its a once off and not a subscription i might just change my mind and invest in a extension or 2
As for downgrading to a previous OC, what would you recommend me to do? I mean to rather just stay with the version i have because its better in some ways and have less free EXT and buy 1/2 or downgrade and kiss goodbye to some features of OC?
Which features will i kiss goodbey from v3.0.3.1 if there's any, i really dont feel like doing everything over again?

in some ways from what existed before. And this would result in
doing work, only an OC Insider would be able to achieve. Kill it,
and so save time and frustration.
OC in an 'ongoing' Project, backed on a very few people, and the only
Income, generated trough that Project, is based on a percentage,
generated out of sold Extensions trough the OC Extension Section,
as well as some Banner advertizing on the OC Site.
And it's also a Software for one single purpose, for you as well as for
anyone else. It's all about Selling, and generating Money, and so
Competition as well, but sure not about international Partnership
and/or common Goals. Except for a handful of Nuts, but, unlike me,
while still learning, even they come and go some day, on a regular bases ...
And about 99.9 % come here, to get something, hopefully for free,
but never even think of giving something back in return. That's
another rather discouraging Fact. So, considering those Facts,
better just be happy, if one finds some infos and help, but better
don't expect anything, at least not, as long as it comes for free.
Then, one might end up, succcessfully running an OC Store,
otherways, it's likely just wasted time, and another broken Dream,
to get rich, by simply copy & paste, what seems to be a Key to success,
for everybody, lucky to have found OC.

Strictly technically, most all former Versions have not been 'updated'
any longer, after beeing replaced by a 'Last'. At least officially, since
some of them still exist, just in other Places.
Whereby, Successor only means 'Version Number'. And 'Latest' usually
contain the fixes, found and solved in the previous 'last' GITHUB
Version, in addition to some other Changes/Additions, still not beeing
part of the former Sub-Version.
And that may result in Changes, to be made in existing Extensions
+Themes, to further do their Job in latest OC Versions. So, it's more an
ever-repeating Story, since OC is a steady 'ongoing' Project. But 'average'
People cannot know this, since, in real Life, most always expect 'Latest'
to also be the Best. It's likely the iPhone Generation mentality, what leads
to such, I guess ...
But thats's not the Case, Latest always have the LEAST on Mods,
since they have to be created and tested first. And OC does NOT
supply a DEV-only Version, Months ahead, to allow Pro's, to get
their Stuff online in time. In contrary, as soon as a latest xxx_RC
Version hit's the Github/Opencart Scene, they start to UPGRADE
in sheer Masses ...
In addition to FREE Code and Knowledge, which only arrives at
the free Scene after a while, by Nature of all new things.
---
Just to give you, and others, some 'global' Ideas on this all, in partly
repeated Form already, I know! But for some readers, it might be
of Value, to know that about OC, and so get down to the Planet Earth
again, from the Dream of a free Heaven, full or everything, to make
every Web-Code-Stranger automatically to a Winner. But that's not
the case, like in real Life too ...
And when it comes to Versions, in the Past, the last existing Release
of the v.1.5.x + v.2.x Series have been proven to work best. Whereby,
the last v.1.5.6.5 Release officially never existed, due to a Collision,
kind of, since a 'final' 1.5.6.5 Version would have been released
'after' the official V-2 arrival, and this would have 'harmed' the
acceptance of v.2 , to an extend, where a Majority of existing v1.5.x
Users would not have 'upgraded' in the first Place. And everything on
Mods existed, keeping most, from still making real Money out
of that Release.
So, that Version ended up to 'stay final' on Github OC as 1.5.6.5_RC
(Release Candidate) and so not as 'officially' linked Source. Other
than that, it's proven to be the best 1.5.x Version, and I never found
security listings, despite of a range of Users, as it looks. I use it too,
because it offers most Knowledge and Code, as well as modern OC
Bootstrap responsive Theme Technology, either aquired by adding
an existing 1.5.6.4 'responsive' Theme (free+paid), or by use of
famous Peku's OC2 - to - OC1.5 Bootstrap OpenCart EDGE Version,
which is based on latest 1.5.6.5_rc, and widely error-free.

For OC-2, the best Version was v.2.3.0.2, despite of (still) some Misses.
A known russian OC Coder created an 'updated' Version, including all
known fixes, as I would assume, by updating it, so far up to v. 2.3.0.2.5.
https://opencart.pro/reliz/
For someone, just downloading it, to 'compare' it's '2.3.0.2.5' OC File
Content with an existing 2.3.0.2 Site install, it's a great way, to make
use of, what has be changed/added/whatever in his Version Code.
One could also add some new DB-Tables+Content, to have/use some
of the nice Extensions, this Version includes. Or then, if using it in Full,
be willing to 'handle' a few CYRILLIC russian Sequences, partly placed,
where they better not sould be, and able to change such 'minor' things,
(mostly to be found in the Installation DB) before installing the Code, it
might be a valuable Solution, to further use.
And for this OC Version, a good range of OC Wisdom exists, free+paid,
and most of that Code should work with this Version, as it comes.
https://opencart.pro/overview/
The Fellow added some of his own Modules. But he also used russian
Code content in some files, instead of using OC Standard - Variables.
Lazy Bugger...
But he did not change or remove most 'common' OC Things,
unlike other eastern-europe OC-Projects. He just ignored, probably on
purpose, that others cannot read, and Systems possibly not 'handle'
cyrillic Code, if placed in Files, where only ¨VARIABLES¨belong, to stay
Multi-Language ...
It's not hard, if one is a little familiar with such, it only takes (free) time.

OC v.3.0.2.x has been bugfixed and the Download Link was once placed
in a Forum Topic. But it no longer exists, for what reason ever, as I just
found out.
It would have been another 'Best', so far at least, but I really cannot tell.
---
Hope it helps, it's what I know about, after beeing around for a short while.
Good Luck!

Wow thanks for the essay lol, but it was a good and a very interesting read.
I appreciate the time and patience and effort you and other developers take to upgrade open source projects and i will be more than glad to consider you first in choosing a paid version.
This has been some good info, i will with my next project start with a OC 1.5 version that you mentioned as best.
I know you might not get this much but, thanks man.
