Re: [RELEASED] Override Engine for OpenCart

I am experiencing an issue with date when sending order emails to customers. I am posting it here because this OC has OE installed so it can't qualify for the official "1.5.6 bugs" thread and because the language and other PHP files are indeed modified by OE. Basically what happens is this: in the o...

Re: OpenCart needs and deserves more "meta" and visibility

I agree with you but unfortunately there's a culture of micromanagement that makes it difficult for OpenCart to grow to the next level. Yes and it's very ugly. We might have to switch to another e-commerce solution, because despite OC is clearly one of the best, its growth potential feels "hard cap...

Re: OpenCart 1.5.6 BUG topic - Read first post first!

Wrong. If there's a PHP error there's a log, one in OpenCart and one for the server. You mean, like this? 2013-06-19 5:00:37 - PHP Notice: Cannot find controller class file for route 'mp3-players' in /var/www/removed.com/public_html/system/engine/factory.php on line 152 2013-06-19 8:21:47 - PHP Not...

Re: OpenCart 1.5.6 BUG topic - Read first post first!

But the surprise was not really about the bug per se (I program since 33 years, I have seen a TON!) but seeing random people posting again and again about how order emails would not work and yet not be believed and some times belittled (by other posters, not the OpenCart team). In all fairness, we ...

Re: OpenCart 1.5.6 BUG topic - Read first post first!

@Ernie I really see where you are coming from (my first computer was a Commodore Vic 20, with all of it's massive 3583 bytes free!). I feel some of your concerns could use a richer discussion but here it's not on topic. Where i's really on topic is on my thread: OpenCart needs and deserves more "met...

OpenCart needs and deserves more "meta" and visibility

Introduction Today I was writing down a bug report when I got struck by a series of thoughts. It's a year I am heavily using and coding OpenCart features so I have matured some opinions I'd like to share here. OpenCart meta and visibility We have many great pieces of Open Source software. Some get ...

Re: Another day in Opencart

1) It's not true that (as implied in posts above) the multiple email addresses get managed in most or all the OpenCart functionalities that send emails. In baseline 1.5.6 OpenCart, only orders emails and little else even take the additional email addresses into consideration. 2) There's what to some...

Re: OpenCart 1.5.6 BUG topic - Read first post first!

In reference to my bug report (OpenCart not sending order emails) and to the only reply I have received : To start with a simple process of elimination: Have you also tested it with a plain OpenCart 1.5.6 install (without vQmod and without the Override Engine)? Introduction I have found the bug. It'...

Re: [RELEASED] Override Engine for OpenCart

@Above

- Override Engine has little to do with vQMod. It's actually another way to customize OpenCart.

- My biggest e-commerce site features Override Engine (several classes) and about 60 vQMods.
It scores 100% on Google Page Speed...

Re: Rounding errors in cart

Not new. Enter your pricing and taxes to 4 digits. Search button top right asked rounding errors gives "About 959 results (0.33 seconds)" at https://www.google.com/search?q=+Rounding+errors&sitesearch=forum.opencart.com Refine that for nuances, such as the forward/backward VAT burial/exhumation ari...

Rounding errors in cart

Hello, There seems to be some issue at calculating totals. Our shop default currency is euro. Americans already have to cope with seeing prices with decimals. If it was not bad enough, when they look at their cart they see miscalculated totals like in this picture: http://i.imgur.com/x0CFney.png Is ...

Re: OpenCart 1.5.6 BUG topic - Read first post first!

In case warnings are enabled, you can get a blank page (page compression turned on) or a warning if something goes bad with the PHP session and there's little the end user can do:

Here's the admin page, the front end looks just blank unless compression is turned off.

Re: Extension Store Update IMPORTANT!!

Where "1 year is like a decade and that's way too long," how many OC .x releases has that typically spanned? People who obtain free or commercial extensions frequently find that whatever worked just fine suddenly stopped working, for whatever reasons they and developers may (or may not) care to res...

Creating new modules from existing ones is now easier

New and experienced OpenCart modules creators often create new modules starting from similar, existing ones. One of the most cumbersome and error prone burderns in this task, is to dutifully copy a plethora of module files onto new ones with the name of our new module. In example, if we want to impl...

Re: OpenCart 1.5.6 BUG topic - Read first post first!

@JNeuhoff You'll also notice how the unit test is not using Override Engine's allocator. That is basically what you asked about excluding it from the tests. I also noticed another thing about OE (sorry for the off-topic in here): it looks like you "OE-ed" order.php but $email gets allocated in other...

Hello, I know this is a long, epic OpenCart topic but it's happening to us now and I have no idea (left) about how to fix it or even how to further debug it. Basically we have a new 1.5.6 install + vQMod (newest) + Override Engine (newest). Contact Us emails get sent. New account emails notices get...

Re: [RELEASED] Override Engine for OpenCart

Our upcoming version 7 of the Override Engine will use cached files, stored in the folder system/cache/override , instead of the variable stream. This will also make debugging a lot easier. We have already implemented it for upcoming OpenCart 2.0 and will backport it for the OpenCart 1.5.x releases...

Re: [RELEASED] Override Engine for OpenCart

Hello, I have a little question. After using OE for some months I have to say that it's quite of an excellent addition to OpenCart and along with vQMod allows for very deep, low side effects customization in a lot of places. It's also quite elegant in usage and tends to be "neutral" with respect of ...
