I think this can be solve by loading only top parent categories at start. when customer click on each categories then load sub categories of that parent categories, and so on

Actually your additional image size is changed already

But you see small additional image displayed because of .image-additional class in your stylesheet.css line 678 limit the container only "max-width: 78px"

Change this value or remove it

It's depend on what Virtual Server software you are using

For me, I'm using Appserv, I do the setting for php.ini from config menu of Appserv.

The right php.ini location for my case is Windows/php.ini (I'm using Appserv on Windows 7)

You need to change it after you migrate to new domain.
