Re: New live shop for ShowMe Guides OpenCart User Manual

Looks great, Kerry! One comment: because of the scrolling boxes for Description and Reviews, which cover the width of the content, scrolling down on the page is usually interrupted if your cursor is over these boxes. Maybe this only annoys me, but I would skip the boxes and just have the whole cont...

New live shop for ShowMe Guides OpenCart User Manual

I have a new OpenCart shop using 1.5.5.1 with R.Gen template from Themeforest. It's still slow so needs some optimizing, but I'm pretty pleased with it so far. I give away a lot of free stuff so I've added the extension Download free downloadable products without checkout. Other mods include Keep it...

Filters workout - what made you decide on OpenCart?

I'm coming out with a super-secret new website with OC1551 (shhh!) and want to give the new product filters feature a good workout so people can really try it out. My customers will be comparing (filtering) OpenCart to other carts like osCommerce, VirtueMart, Magento, Loaded Commerce, blah-dee-blah....

Re: Countryzone shipping invalid argument on install

Also, it looks like this extension wants me to go in and set up each of the what, 240 countries in the world individually? This is crazy, I need a simple 3-zone system - one for US, next Canada/Mexico/Europe, third all else. Is there no simple zone rate extension?

Need "Look Inside the Book" extension

Usually I'm really good at finding extensions, but I cannot locate anything like Amazon's "Look Inside the Book" feature.

Has anyone seen or used something like this? Or ideas on other ways to approximate it? Of course it would go on my product info pages.

Thanks in advance. :)

Re: Importing / Exporting tips & advice

It's an Excel spreadsheet. This is for a motivated client, I mean one who really wants to save money by doing it themselves and who is unafraid of a spreadsheet. 1. I'd set up some test products that will have the options etc. that the customer needs. Really, a variety of up to 10 products so you ge...

Re: Multiple payment methods - expected?

Does anybody have experience with Moneybookers for worldwide payments? I opened an account with them years ago. I wonder if they are more popular than PayPal in some areas.

Re: Multiple payment methods - expected?

Hi Labeshops,

Thanks and I think you are right about that. Do you have worldwide sales or mostly in the USA? I'm wondering how popular PayPal is around the world, or whether people abandon the sale when they see it.

Re: Multiple payment methods - expected?

Thanks William for the thoughtful reply!

I'm hoping to hear from some PayPal "haters" too... that would definitely clinch the need for multiple methods.

Multiple payment methods - expected?

I'm setting up a new OpenCart shop and am wondering if customers expect multiple payment methods, or if PayPal Express Checkout is sufficient. I've had an Authorize.net account for about 10 years but most customers seem to choose the PayPal Express.

Opinions welcomed. Thanks in advance!

Re: PDF

The manuals are technical specification and user manuals of the product. I want to display or download the manual for registered customers only. When they buy the product they can download the manual. Okay for technical specs and manuals you probably need Product Downloads PRO: http://www.opencart....

Re: Web hosting

Jean, Contact your web host and find out specifically why they suggested you move. It could have just been "upselling" trying to get you to buy a more expensive service, or you may have outgrown the account type you have now. Also if they say you are bumping up on limits of filespace or ba...

Re: SEO not working on 1.5.5.1

James, I'm suggesting this only because I've done this myself - capitalization issues? /shop/Power is different than /shop/power.
