Re: Trying to decide between Magento and OpenCart

What is the size of your shop? Do you have your own server? If the answers are, huge and multi-core and loads of ram go with magnento. If you can handle that then you should be expecting to have staff that knows their way around zend and how optimization works. Without these skills and a small shop ...

Re: HTML Special Characters

the last poster here Hmmm, wouldn't that be you? OR are you referring to ! Ok, jokes aside, looks like somebody who coded that in had an idea of securing data being entered into the db through the catalog side. Then forgot about that class and then had to deal with the situation since it wa...

Re: Using Opencart as Online catalog

Edit the template files :)

You can basically just delete the html for showing the cart buttons and such.
You should also consider removing most of the html for all the rest of the "cart functions".
Basically you'll end up with a specialized template.

Re: Coding Standards Improvement Proposal

Tabs will help you organize your pages better, but I don't seem to recall them being individual entities within the main section. So, you still need to do delete and add. MVC vs monolithic is another topic on it's own. Personally, monolithic is like php3 :bang: However, a monolithic structure does a...

Re: Coding Standards Improvement Proposal

I don't think that this idea is about layout but rather how the database is actually setup (not sure if this is the right word). [setup? designed? Basically trying to find the word that describes how you actually decide what database type and if use indexes, and/or foreign keys.] Something like this...

Re: Add columns left and right

It should work if you set it properly.

layout: home
status: enabled
sort order: 1 (what ever ;) )
position: left

Next thing would be if you have categories or not ...

Re: Where is the htaccess.txt file?

Sort of hidden. I'm not using the main installer, I use SVN and then hand edit so ... Normally, a htaccess file has a "." in front of it. I come across this a lot and because I'm using OSX and open the files direct in my "sites" folder the htaccess file seems to be missing. It is not missing, it is ...

Re: Multi-Vendor Capability?

+1
With a team that size, imagine all the possibilities!

+1 heads up for fido-x's mod, didn't even that it existed!
Knowing his presence here at the forums, code and quality are not an issue :)

Re: [WANTED] beta testers for ticket system

Will the customers email answer be pulled in automatically? Or is this still a CRM type of idea were you log the entries in the admin by yourself?

Also, are you going to charge for this?

Re: Hide OpenCart Version in Admin Section

I don't get the paranoia there are no known security vulnerabilities in opencart. By changing the admin folder name you are guaranteed to have to have to change every single mod you want to use, and who needs the pain of entering two passwords particularly given how weak http auth is? 1.) Paranoia ...

BINGO! step 2! Actually, that is a huge key that people just don't realize .... :-\ Actually, somebody here did a write up on how to take care of some of these problems. I just don't remember the thread. However, they also went into doing some changes in htaccess to protect directories and stuff lik...
